The Awakening

What enchanted sleep
did carry me off for a moment in life?
Eternal, beyond these realms of Time and Space
And when came to rest from journeying afar,
The Wingless Flight
I beheld you upon a distant shore of unbroken memory
You held me with your own secret smile
Your Autumn hair flowing in like of the open sea
Causing my descent unto you
I lighted gently upon the sands of my mind
Wrapped about each other, and yet
All the while, dancing and singing
Our joyful reunion of a memory finally free
Upon our embrace, there too transpired
A marriage of the Soul
Deeper by contrast than all the oceans of Earth
Flew we to that Sacred Isle
The Self of Selves, personified
The Heart of the World and we beat as one drum
Standing besides, face set to face
Reaching up from Within
We turned, and promised each of the other
Wherever be we may, in Time, Space or Memory
Together shall we stay
And thus all said and done
The vision departed, as night gave birth to day
I awoke, beheld you there, still
Quietly sleeping within the Breath of Life
And smiled I unto Thee
